HOW MUCH COULD YOU RECEIVE?
Compensation amounts vary significantly depending on the severity and nature of your injuries, the financial losses you have incurred, and the specific circumstances of your accident. The following examples are drawn from Judicial College Guidelines and are intended as a general guide only. Contact My Cycle Claim for a personalised assessment of your claim.
Minor Injuries (e.g. soft tissue injuries, minor fractures)
For minor cycling injuries with a full recovery expected within weeks or a few months, compensation typically ranges from a few hundred pounds to around £2,000 for general damages. Special damages for bike repair and lost earnings are added on top.
Moderate Injuries (e.g. wrist or ankle fractures, whiplash, knee injuries)
Moderate injuries with recovery times of six months to two years typically attract general damages in the range of £2,000 to £25,000 depending on severity and recovery prospects.
Serious Injuries (e.g. significant fractures, spinal damage, multiple injuries)
Serious injuries resulting in long-term or permanent effects can attract general damages ranging from £25,000 to well over £100,000. In cases involving permanent disability or severe brain injury, awards can reach into the hundreds of thousands.
Psychological Injuries
Compensation for conditions such as PTSD, anxiety, and depression ranges from around £1,000 for mild cases with full recovery, up to £50,000 or more for severe, long-lasting conditions.
All of the above are for general damages only. Special damages — including lost earnings, bike replacement, medical costs, and rehabilitation — are calculated separately and can significantly increase the total award.
